Helping gospel choirs to be the best they can be
I’ve been singing in, playing for, directing, and writing music for gospel choirs all my life. I live in Los Angeles. These pages are full of resources to help gospel choirs and choir directors achieve excellence in their ministry. We talk about how to teach different types of gospel choirs, how to choose the best songs for any occasion or purpose, and how to get the best out of your choir. Singing in choirs and directing choirs are among the greatest joys in my life. I want to do all I can to support the ministry of the gospel choir everywhere. I hope that these web pages can be useful to you in helping you develop in whatever part of the music ministry God has given you. | ![]() Be sure to check out ChoirParts.com, practice tracks that you can download for your choir. I also have informational videos and music videos on my YouTube channel: JoanTheChoirLady |
Our music is special!

There’s nothing else like the uplifting sound of gospel choir singing. The sound of voices lifted in praise can inspire feelings of joy and wonder, devotion and determination in our hearts. Even non-Christians are moved by the beauty and power of what the gospel choir offers.
The only thing better than listening to a gospel choir is being a part of the choir yourself. We minister to ourselves first, and then to the rest of the world.
The reason why we sing – Understanding the ministry of gospel choir singing
Remember this: Praising God through music is something that we are commanded to do in God’s word. Don’t let anyone call the music ministry trivial or unnecessary. It is something that we must do.
We are instructed in the scriptures to sing to God as a form of worship, and also to sing to our fellow men as a form of encouragement.
We should take our ministry seriously. Gospel singing should be done with both sincerity and skill. God and our brothers and sisters deserve nothing less.
Hello Sister Joan, I am new to your channel and online family. This has been a blessing so far. May God continue to bless you for your acts of service that helps edify the body of Christ worldwide!
Hello, I hope all is well.
A friend of mine at our Choir recommended your website for supports for singers.
I am an alto and I learn by hearing it and I’m looking for the Alto Part for Mozart’s
Dominican Vespers -the entire work , just for Alto.
I’ve done a search and this particular work – I could not find it in searches or in your catalog.
Your help is appreciated , and how to use your website and to confirm that this work can be done.
I look forward to hearing from you , and again I am very grateful for your help.

Hi! The information about placing a custom order for a new piece can be found here — https://choirparts.com/make-a-special-order/
The typical custom order is for something that is the length of a song. Multi-movement pieces are treated like a collection of songs. I looked up the Mozart piece that you are referring to, and I saw that there are five movements that have choir portions. So an order for this piece would be like an order for five songs. Each one would be charged the standard price, and the schedule for completion would be seven business days per movement (I’m a one-person business, so my scheduling is limited to what I can do by myself).
If that would work with your schedule and budget, I would be happy to do the piece for you. Just let me know. The best way to reach me is through the email address that is on the Song Order page (linked above).
God bless,
Joan Hall
